WHO WE ARE
MISSION AT EWAY
As Christians, our lives are devoted to the work of God and it is by participating in this work, to which we are called, that we engage in mission. As disciples of Christ we are called to witness to God's grace and to serve the world as instruments of that grace.
At Emmaus Way, we understand our mission as something that engulfs the whole of our lives, and is not something "extra" we do, but absolutely essential to who we are. We enact our mission in our jobs, when we offer hospitality to others, practice friendship, work to make our neighborhoods and city a more just place to live, when we speak of God's grace, and when we embody that grace in forgiveness.
In this mission, we also recognize that we cannot, and nor are we called to do everything, so as a community, we have embraced some key missional partnerships, borne out of our friendships in the Durham community and abroad. These missional partners are Church World Service, Durham CAN, Reality Ministries, and Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham, and It is through these natural connections that we have committed to actively support and partake as those who witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ and serve others in his grace.
